What does 'grilling your tacos con sabor' mean, anyway? Well, it means they grill your tacos for you with flavor and a little bit of love.
The Tahoe Pyramid Trail (TPT) is a 114-mile trail spanning Northern Nevada, from the beautiful Lake Tahoe to the historic Pyramid Lake. Made for runners, cyclists, hikers, and adventurers, this lovely trail is a perfect place to appreciate the beauty of our Truckee River. Explorers can park in the Reno Riverwalk District and follow the trail, discovering our city’s attractions and the memorable views along the way.
A portion of the TPT goes right through the heart of our beloved Riverwalk District. This completed segment of the trail is fully paved, including restrooms and a few gorgeous bridges. The West McCarran to Sparks Section spans 10.7 miles. It takes you on a scenic journey from Idlewilde Park along the river past Wingfield Park and the Truckee River Whitewater Park. The Truckee River Whitewater Park is open year-round to the public and is a haven for adventurous kayakers, whitewater rafters, and floaters alike. It is a must-see destination for outdoor enthusiasts!
Along the north side of the river, on the newly renovated West Street Plaza, sits one of our locals’ favorite spots: Sierra Tap House. Open from noon to midnight, the best taphouse on the river is a favored spot to grab a beer and take in the stunning views from their riverside patio. (Local’s Tip – Tuesday Nights has entertainment from the Reno Philharmonic and an array of food trucks for Harmony On The River all summer long.) Voted 1 of 5 best tap houses in Reno, Sierra Tap House is an ideal stop for a good time, great drinks, and fantastic scenery.
For those seeking a locally owned, community-grown dining experience, the Great Basin Food Co-Op has been a staple in our community since 2005. Offering exclusively locally sourced meals and groceries, their food is not only delicious but also nourishing for the soul. We highly recommend The Goat Toasty when you’re on the hunt for breakfast. Nothing beats whipped chive goat cheese on top of Perenn bread with chili oil and local honey.
At 81% completion over all, the Tahoe Pyramid Trail is yet another reminder of how astonishing the State of Nevada is. The Reno Riverwalk District is so proud to be a part of that beauty.
