Reno transforms into a vibrant scene of art, theater, and creative freedom in July during the annual Artown celebration. Locals and visitors can enjoy free and noteworthy experiences ranging from live music, dance, and theater to cultural and literary events throughout the Riverwalk and the city.
If by chance you can’t join us in July, the Reno Riverwalk District proudly celebrates and features exceptional and specialty art year-round. Reno’s historic Riverwalk District is the epic center of many art-focused events, including outdoor movies in the park, concerts, and performance art that bring audiences from all over to picnic along the river in Wingfield Park. Visitors can stroll along the paths enjoying large kinetic sculptures and signage, locally commissioned murals, and micro exhibits with local art adorning the walls of the nearby bars and cafés.
Even the corner coffee shops are hidden gems for local art; in the Riverwalk District, for example, the Crafted Palette is an eclectic bar and café that also offers art classes and painting events, pastries, and wine. You can check out a current schedule on their website to see when painting classes are offered, what events are coming up, art available for purchase, and to take a look at their fantastic menu of food and drink options that are works of delicious art; all on their own!
Housed in the very building where Reno started, the Sierra Arts Foundation is a resident modern art gallery, a space devoted to art and artists, and Reno’s premier arts organization and resource center.
