The Reno / Tahoe area has numerous places for kids and families to enjoy fishing, as well as challenging waters for experienced anglers. For fly-fishing, the Truckee River offers some of the best water in the west – including a fly-fishing only, catch-and-release section – easily accessible from the district. The Truckee River has several types of fish including rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, mountain whitefish, and large-mouth bass (in lower sections) of the river.
